AFTERNOON CRUISE ON THE WEY & ARUN CANAL A PRIVATE CRUISE with CREAM TEA on FRIDAY 20th MAY 2011 |
|
We left Crawley by
coach at 1 o'clock and had a pleasant journey on a fine sunny
afternoon to our boat moored at the Onslow Arms PH at Loxwood.
David had already given us a talk on the Canal Trust and was
there to greet us and to crew the boat under skipper Peter
Hyem So at 2 o'clock we set sail in a southerly direction along
the Wey and Arun Junction Canal as far as Drungewick lock,
currently the last restored lock until volunteers reisate the
canal to its former glory down the river Arun and the south
coast.

After tea the boat turned round at Drungewick to give us a peaceful cruise back, to Loxwood where our waiting coach delivered us back to Crawley at about 6 o'clock to conclude a very pleasant afternoon in the Surrey countryside
